Halleloo, people!

Sorry that it’s been a while since I posted. My life has been SUUUPPPEEERRR crazy lately.

For one thing, I have realized that for the past few years, I’ve been… not really myself when I’m blogging. There was a time when I was able to post more about my thoughts, the things I see around me… you know, posting as… well… me.

But ever since I’ve gotten in a pay-per-post website, the things I write always seem so forced. No offense to my blogging master, raredog, as I am every grateful to him for introducing me to the concept. However, I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting a bit more content about my life. I’m not going to let go of the whole pay-per-post thing though, but I’ll try to keep it at least a 30:70 minimum.

SO! Activities! Well, I’ll be happy to tell you that I have since enrolled in a local college to take my Masters. WHOOHOOO! Yeah, I’m studying again. Which is pretty cool, considering I’ll probably hate it in a few years. But it is quite an achievement, specially since I’m not using my parents’money for it. I actually didn’t realize how much I’ve missed studying. I know there are, like, collective groans from students reading this about how much they positively HATE school, but trust me, when you get to my age, you’re going to miss it too.

It’s also probably the reason why I’ve been pretty down lately, last year in particular. It’s like my mind was looking for something to make it active again (which is why I took up the ukulele). I’ve read somewhere that depression sets in when your brain feels stagnant… when you don’t do anything to stimulate your brain cells like exercise or read or do adrenaline-junkie-like stunts like my blogging master. I know I’ve been into video games too, but something still felt off. Like I wanted to learn new stuff, so here I am! I’m just praying that I’ll be able to finish it. I must admit that I wasn’t a model student back in my college days, but I really do realize my mistake now, and I’ll be damned if I do it again.

And of course, since I’m studying again, I haven’t really had any time for video games, (which kinda sucks… I miss Garrus Vakarian). There are SOOOOO many great video games coming out soon (I’m looking at you, Mass Effect: Andromeda!), but I’m hoping I can save up and buy a next gen console. I had to use some of my money for a brand-spanking-new laptop since my classes required it, but yeah, I need to save up again. Besides, according to my official-pasted-on-my-wall bucket list, I still need to learn guitar to play Breezy from Final Fantasy VIII and Spanish Romance before I should play video games(priorities, people!).

Anyway, stay tuned for a bit more! Because I saw a video from YouTube that made me envious again. T_T

Tolle lege! (I should make this a thing from now on… it means ‘take up and read’).

Xbox Games Suggestions?

Okay, I know I’ve said that Mass Effect is currently my number #2 in my wishlist, with Dance Central being #1…

What other games do you suggest I should buy?

I’m thinking of getting the whole Assassin’s Creed series as well. But so far these 3 games are the only ones I have in mind. (But I have a feeling I’m going to need to build myself a really comfortable and sturdy chair using reidsupply.com tools.

So let’s see currently my list includes:

1. Dance Central 1/2/3 (As demanded by my sister ~_~”)
2. Mass Effect 1/2/3 (Damn you, Thane Krios and Garrus Vakarian ~_~”)
3. Assassin’s Creed (all those available for the Xbox)
4. Hitman: Absolution (heck yes!)
5. Grand Theft Auto V (big fan of this series XD)
6. Saint’s Row the 3rd (if I can find a copy… I heard the studio behind the game filed for bankruptcy T_T)
7. Deadpool (when it comes out)
8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (though I’ve heard it’s better on the PC)
9. The Walking Dead (uhm… kinda… er… not a big fan of zombie games)
10.Batman Arkham Asylum/ Arkham City (probably, not really into super-hero games)

And no, I’m not going to include fighting games, because I am not a big fan of them (except for Tekken, I guess).

I’m trying to look for Role Playing Games ala Final Fantasy, but it seems that those kind of games are gone now (huhuhu). I’m more of an RPG girl myself, rather than straight-up shooters (yeah yeah, I know that some of my choices are shooters). But still, can anybody recommend a good Xbox 360 games with a gripping storyline?

Mass Effect!!!

I now have a new reason to actually buy an Xbox 360…

FRICKIN’ THANE KRIOS!!!

Yep, the Mass Effect Series for the Xbox 360 is now in my #2 priority games-to-buy list (Dance Central is still #1… my sister positively DEMANDS it. XD)

But… I would still have to play the first Mass Effect before playing Mass Effect 2 (where Thane is a recruitable character).

It seems I have a pechant for men (or aliens O_o) who are good with guns. I had a crush with Irvine Kinneas (fromm Final Fantasy 8) and Vincent Valentine (from Final Fantasy 7), and now I have a gamer-girl’s crush on Thane frickin’ Krios.

I. Am. So. Weird.

I need to update my Xbox wishlist. XD

MAKALA MK-S!!!

It’s here! It’s finally here!

MY MAKALA MK-S UKULELE!!!

Okay, I know I said that I prefer the Lanikai or the Dolphin, but still… IT’S A SOPRANO!!!

And I am freakin’ loving it right now. For once, my teeny tiny fingers can actually do a decent strum of my ever dreaded uku-foe, the E-chord.

Plus I was even able to get it strung with Aquilas! So it sounds so sweet and bright and sunny. Playing it really make me happy, even in my worst days.

I still use my Samick UK-50, but I’m hoping I can get it strung with Lower-G Aquilas. But unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with recent releases of the Red Label (Lower G) Aquilas, so I can’t get them yet.

And for ukulele enthusiast in the Philippines, I was able to get this baby from Ukulele Manila. They sell really nice branded ukuleles like Lanikais, Makala and Kala, and you can buy from them. This particular Makala was on sale the day I bought it. I was lucky enough to have one of their sellers, Sir Jelzon, live close to me, so he was able to deliver it to me via meet up.

Anyway, I am so addicted to this thing that I’m looking for cool songs to play on it. Will post a video soon when I get to play a decent song with my Makala (as insisted by my friend Ivan from Singapore XD).

Another want: Altair Jacket!

Yeah, that’s a costume made by a cosplayer, designed according to Altair’s clothes from Assasin’s Creed.

And I frickin’ want it.

Or at least just the jacket… the half chaps have got to go though.

I am thinking of buying some cloth, and have someone sew it for me. With the release of Assassin’s Creed 3, a lot of people are thinking about how to design the jacket of the protagonist, Connor Kenway. But of course, being the first Assassin’s Creed hero ever featured, I still prefer Altair’s. Not to mention that it’s pretty simple. I wonder how many yards of cloth this would take? And if it would even fit my extra large frame. ~_~

The leather work would have to be removed though… it’s a shame. I just don’t know anyone who works with leather.

Anyway, maybe after I’ve bought a soprano ukulele, this would be my next project. But maybe I should make it in black?

Hell in a Heel?

I SERIOUSLY want one of these babies.

Unfortunately, I’m rather heavy, and although wearing heels might make me look sexier and taller (hahaha), I still get painful feet after wearing them for a long time.

Which is why I end up wearing flats, like, ALL the time.

Platformed shoes are fine for me too, but I really like one of those sky high heels. Maybe I should find spenco soles first before I wear heels like these. I have a pair of them in my closet, but I hardly wear them because my feet hurt like crazy at the end of the day.

Also, according to scientific research and study, there are actually a lot of dangers in wearing high heels all the time. High heels could end up disfiguring the bones of your feet, changing your straight, healthy posture into a curved one (causing your spine to create an unhealthy S shape) and causing bunions, hammertoes and other injuries to your tendons, ankles and toes.

I’m a regular flats wearer, and although I have sky high heels, I do not wear them all the time. I only use them for special occasions.

So for women everywhere who wear sky high heels all the time, research the effects of your heels to your body. It might be a good idea to learn from your research, since you don’t really need to risk your health for the sake of vanity.

As for me, I’ll just drool of the beauty of these shoes, and afterwards I’ll prance my way to a cake store. XD

Lessons from a Broadband Technician

Whew! I’m finally back!

Sorry for the delay in posting, I’ve had some recent issues with my broadband provider lately.

My connection hasn’t been functioning right, and I had to literally CALL them, like, 15 times in a month. It took me a lot of patience and anger management control to not shout profanities at the phone because they were taking too long to fix it.

And when they finally sent a technician, it was actually quite a humbling experience.

The technician was a chatty, rather energetic guy, who stopped at nothing to get our line fixed. I asked him a lot of questions about our connection, and why they took so long to send him… all the while holding in my anger which was about to explode any minute.

The technician told me that there were a lot of repairs to do, and that there were so few hardworking technicians like him to do the job. He said that sometimes the case gets handed to a “slacker” (which is kind of part of any corporate staff… you know the kind that lounges around all day and not do anything productive). The technicians don’t really have a choice as to which case goes to whom. But when the case gets handed from a slacker tech to a more hard-working tech, the owner gets mad and berates and belittles the hard-working tech.

Which is actually quite unfair.

Anyway, so we were talking about my line again, and it turns out that the garbage trucks passing through my street accidentally passed through our line, causing the wires to become frayed. He said it was the reason for my intermittent connection.

He fixed it rather well, and when he came back into the house, I set him up with some snacks as a thanks (since you don’t really have to pay them for the repairs).

As he sat down, he said he was really happy and thankful for the snack and my nice demeanor. He said he has encountered so many clients who cursed at him, shouted at him, and let him starve if the repair took a while. He said that technicians like him ARE doing their job, it’s just that it’s really hard to focus on a job when they are getting belittled by the owners. It’s one of the main reasons why sometimes they don’t repair a connection. Their call centers record the calls, and if the complainant is very verbally abusive, the company doesn’t send a technician right away, as a safety precaution to their staff. He also said that when nice people call and they don’t lose their cool, and can still talk about their complaints in a civilized manner, then the company sends them, making sure that they are prioritized from other cases.

I thought about all my calls to them, and sure enough, I realized that though I was pissed during the time I would call them, I still had enough manners to say “thank you” and “please” to the call center agent. I guess the company heard all of my calls and decided I was a “safe” and civil client, and sent one of their men early in the morning, since in the ticket the technician was holding, I became a “priority” client.

As he left, my anger deflated, and I felt pity for him. I realized that it really is unfair for people to belittle technicians like him. They are just doing their job, just as we are. Sometimes people get so pissed at the little things and shout in anger, without even realizing that the person they are shouting at have feelings too. That’s why some people avoid them.

Since then, I’ve decided to talk nicer to call center agents and technicians of my Broadband connection, and I have made a list of things to do next time I have a complaint on my DSL Provider:

1. Be nice. The people behind the other side of the phone is human too.

2. The company you are calling (whether it’s the DSL/ Electricity/etc.) have a big number of staff, but also a HUGE number of clients. Be patient and wait.

3. There are other alternatives when your DSL is down. There are computer shops around that could probably cater to your needs.

4. Check if the problem lies with your connection, or with your computer. After the guy left, I recently found out that one of the other reasons why my internet was so slow was because of my computer. ~_~

5. Control your anger. Anger just turns you into a beast, and makes people (technicians included) want to avoid you.

Anyway, I am just happy that my line is back. It’s just too bad that I forgot the guy’s name. I would have given him a glowing recommendation from his boss about the job he did.

Zenkx the Mobile Blogger?

No. Not really. XD

i’m just testing out my new Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro.

I installed some new apps today, like the Dolphin Browser and WordPress for Android. It’s working like a charm. And the qwerty keyboard on this mini pro is awesome! Personally, i thinks it’s because of my teeny, tiny fingers.

Unfortunately, i am a little scared of my battery running low. I guess I’m going to have to use Mobile blogging only when there is a wifi signal around. It’s going to be nightmare on my bill if I use GPS or Edge.

BUT IT’S STILL SO AWESOME!!!! XD

Early Morning Wake-Up Ukulele?

Is it so wrong of me to wish I could do something like this on my wood daybed frame at 5am in the morning? XD

Anyway, My Ukulele Obsession would’ve has reached new heights if I would want to play ukulele at such an early time. Every one in my house is still sleeping, and I’m probably going to wake everyone up if I do this.

I’m really beginning to enjoy playing the ukulele… it’s actually shocking since I’ve never really been so obsessed about something like this.

Don’t get me wrong. I still suck a little… I can’t sing for the life of me. And I just found out that there’s a strumming technique I can’t do (huhuhu T_T). But as far as being a beginner, I think I’m doing pretty good. Especially now that I’ve bought a decent beginner’s ukulele. Which I will tell you about some other time. XD

Not to mention I’ve just found someone here in Manila who sells D’Addario Ukulele strings! Whooot!

*So yeah… this is probably one of the reasons why I haven’t been blogging lately. My brand-spanking-new ukulele sounds positively AWESOME with D’Addario strings XD*

Hmm… maybe I’ll do this kind of early morning ukulele when I’m alone at home sometime. XD

Amanda Palmer/ Ukulele Obsession

I am positively, absolutely, no-doubt-about-it, head-over-heels in love with this artist.

I even bought a ukulele (the same instrument she’s using) just so I’d be able to play it like her…

Obsessed much? Harharhar. XD
