Adam Lambert needs to learn how to SHUT IT.

‘Nuff said.

I’m not really a huge fan of American Idol, or even Britain’s Got Talent. In fact, the only reality TV that I’m a fan of is Wipe Out (cuz wipe outs make me laugh XD). I am, however, a big fan of talented people.

Take Susan Boyle for example. She’s like the epitome of hidden talents, I swear. She comes in the theater, makes cheeky comments and yet all the while the audience thought she was a joke and laughed. But when she sang, she not only got a standing ovation, but the whole world’s attention, proving that looks can be deceiving and to never judge people by the way they look.

But unfortunately, some people just have to go and slam her all of the sudden, like Adam Lambert. In a recent column from Yahoo!, Lambert called Susan Boyle’s album “terrible” despite the album reaching 4x platinum. While his own album only sold up to 500,00 copies.

Sheesh. Jealous much?

I will admit that after hearing the song Lambert had mentioned, called “White Horses”, I feel that the song just wasn’t fit for Boyle’s powerfully melodic voice. But come on! To say that the WHOLE album was “terrible” is just mean and stupid. Susan Boyle had the coolest rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream”, perhaps even better than Elaine Page. Besides, if the album was really that awful, then it wouldn’t sell 4-million-copies in the US alone, right?

Envy can make people say the most stupid things. And I believe this is the most stupid criticism I’ve ever heard about Susan Boyle. And coming from a second place American Idol, no less. Lambert and Boyle have two different musical styles, and for him to slam her in a musical style that would never be fit for him is just plain wrong. I would’ve understood it if Andrea Bocelli or Josh Groban critiqued her like that, but from a guy who’s more on the punk/rock genre, it’s just… bleh. AND he even said that the way Boyle sang the song was “horrendous and sacrilegious”.

OH COME ON!

You guys want to know what song remake is “horrendous and sacrilegious”? The recent cover of Micheal Jackson’s “We Are the World”. Yeah, search it on YouTube and listen to how horrendous it was. I mean it. I agree with Jay-Z (you know, Beyonce’s hubby) when he said that “We Are The World” is untouchable and should never be remade. But unfortunately, they did, and it came out terrible. I admire their courage and their tenacity to find a way to help out the victims of the Haiti earthquake, but remaking a classic is not a good way to do it. It would’ve been better if they had written a new song for the incident. I’m pretty sure it would’ve sold better.

Anyway, back to the issue, let this be a lesson to all the other artists out there who wish to “critique” their chart opponents. RESEARCH, my friend. If you see that your opponent has a 3.5 million album sales larger than yours, then by all means, shut it. Statistics doesn’t lie when it comes to calculating how lame you are that you’re losing out to an old lady.

Of Susan Boyle part 2

Okay, so I’m a little late with the news but hey…

So, the Britain’s got Talent results have been posted and the winner is the dance troupe Diversity, with Susan Boyle being the 2nd runner up.

A lot of fans were disappointed, but as Susan said, “The best people won.”

Actually, I am a little happy that Diversity won. They were a really fun group to watch (kinda like the Jabbawockeez), not to mention their two youngest members are really impressive as well.

Susan Boyle may only be in second place, but I doubt that we’ll see the last of her. From the news I’ve been reading, she’s got herself a nice record deal.

I doubt we’ll be hearing the last from Susan Boyle, even with her loss in the contest. XD

Of Susan Boyle

Wow, I just posted my thoughts about Filipino burgers, and already I’m posting again.

But seriously, I think that I should post this, since I’m really interested in it… and I’m sure others are too.

A lot of bloggers and web addicts SHOULD know who Susan Boyle is. Who wouldn’t? The lady’s face is posted in Yahoo and in the news. She’s basically everywhere, which is pretty ironic for someone who came from a small village in Britain.

Anyway, if you do know her, then I could go ahead and read my post, if not… well, do a darn Google search. XD

So, after hearing her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dreamed”, I just nearly cried. That song was my favorite from Les Miserables, next to Eponine’s “On My Own”. And when she sang it, it nearly broke my heart, because she was singing it with such emotion that I wish I could show. That song was, in a way, a song about my past, and when she sang it like that… well, let’s just say I am regretting the fact that I have no musical talents. XD

Well, this time around she sang a song from the musical “Cats”, which is another of my favorites. Yeah, I’m a big fan of some musicals. Anyway, here’s a link of the vid if you want to hear it:

Yeah, she got a little nervous at first, and her voice got shaky, but whoa! Did she make up for it! Hahaha! Geeze…

The actual way that I could tell is someone is a good singer, is if I get goosebumps (and it has nothing to do with our airconditioner too XD). There are actually, only 3 people I got goosebumps while hearing them sing. One was Leah Salonga, the other was a girl in my college days named Perlas, and the other was Susan Boyle.

Watching people like her make me realize a couple of things… First of which is, I suck at music. Hahaha!

The second is that the world has gone insane and unfair. The first time that Susan Boyle sang, a lot of people laughed at her because of her appearance, and when she sang, every one stopped laughing. I mean, how can people become so judgmental? Does this mean that everything is about physical appearance nowadays that inner beauty and talent is practically useless and laughable? It really annoys me sometimes when people judge others without even knowing who they are. Kinda like me. Everybody thinks I’m fat, and so, they keep thinking that I must be a glutton. Where’s the logic in that? >_< And you wonder why so many people are mad and angry and causing fights and wars all over. I swear, if Jose Rizal or Martin Luther King were alive today, they’d be utterly disappointed.
