Of Sickness

Yes, people.

I. Am. Sick.

And I don’t mean the psychologically sick (although I am… a little bit anyway). I mean the anatomically sick. I have an itchy throat that makes me cough like crazy, and snot keeps drippin’ out of my nose.

I hate this.

I hate getting sick. It’s one of the worst feelings ever, right next to feeling pain and getting heartbroken. I can’t breathe, my throat hurts, and I have to basically drink so much water and Vitamin C so I can flush out the virus.

And it’s not helping that there’s a threat of AH1N1 going around. My sister is scaring me by saying that I might have contacted it via her uniform, where the virus might have clung, hence, me accidentally inhaling it.

The stupid part about that story is, if she was wearing the virus-infected uniform… WHY HASN’T SHE CONTRACTED THE VIRUS YET?!

My sister can be so slow sometimes.

Anyway, even if this is AH1N1, I am not afraid of it. I just heard from the news that the virus spreading here in the Philippines is just mild, that it can be cured from bed rest and over-the-counter medicines. Honestly, I think that Malaria and Dengue are a much more threatening viruses than AH1N1. I bet that the death toll from these two diseases are waaaaaayyyyy higher than that from Swine Flu. It’s just that people are making such a big fuss about it.

The reality is, diseases like these are ALWAYS around… even if you don’t put it in the news, there’s AIDS, Malaria, Dengue, Ebola, etc. that’s bound to spread. Heck, thousands of kids are dying from AIDS and Malnutrition in other countries and yet people are SCARED over a virus that can be cured with simple bed rest and calamansi juice.

Jeeze, what is the world coming to?

I wish that some would just stop the presses and say, “Hey! AH1N1 has a cure and prevention. It’s called bed rest and frequent hand washing. Now that that’s done, maybe we can go back to taking care of the sick kids who were born HIV positive, eh?”

Actually, I know that I don’t have Swine Flu. This is cold/cough that I have is basically just from me being tired, having not enough sleep and smoking way too much again. Hahaha! Anyway, hopefully this could be my chance to quit smoking.

Hmmm let’ s see… my last cigarette was 7:00 am… before I went to work.

I just hope this thing continues…
