Let’s play Zumba!

In a related post to my previous one, I’ve recently seen this footage of a video game for the XBox Kinect called “Zumba Fitness World Party”.

And yes, I know the game has been around for a while, but hey, I was too busy catching up to my Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption marathon. (John Marston is my idol right now, I swear).

I’ve been trying to get a hold of a second-hand copy of this, since XBox 360 games trading is still pretty much thriving in our local scene, but nobody seems to want to let go of their c opy! Which is really surprising, since I thought that Kinect games are not really a “strong” seller in the circuit. So, I’d probably have to buy it for brand new.

Combine this with my Dance Central games, which have fitness monitors, maybe I could lose weight with this. I’ve heard some pretty good weight loss reviews from this game, and from my experience with the DC games, I get the feeling I’m going to get really worked up in this. I mean, just look at the girl in the video! I mean if I could dance like that, I’d be making videos of it too.

Which possibly also means that I’m going to have to get the music from this game, put it on my phone, and buy MF’s best earbuds so I can play them on my commute to work. I want to be able to practice it during my down time.

New Year, New Goals

Hey!!! It’s 2016!

Woot! Woot!

Yep, it’s a New Year, and with that, New Year’s Resolutions.

Although, I’ve come to the ever-human-realization that I can’t keep a damn promise on “doing’ any of the resolutions I made, I’ve decided to instead focus on “Goals” instead. Which ultimately, gets ticked off in my “Bucket List”, which is a list of things you want to do before you “kick the bucket”… also known as dying.

Okay… so last year, I ticked off three goals in my Bucket List. I dyed my hair red (albeit temporarily), got a tattoo (2, for that matter), and learned an instrument (my ukulele)

So now, for this years goal, one of them is this:

Yep. I’m to start dancing again. XD

I mean, yeah, I did belly dance before, but now I want to learn Hip-Hop and Zumba, which I think I prefer, even though I have a not-so-pretty “stank face”.

Anyway, I can’t afford any private lessons yet, so I’m going to start simple by playing more Xbox Kinect. Hopefully that might help, not just in my dance but in my fitness as well…

Wish me luck! XD

Back on the Mat

And this time, I AM STICKING WITH IT.

Anyway, I decided it’s high time I got back on my yoga mat again. I stopped doing my YRG yoga three months ago, which totally sucks, because now my back is hurting like crazy, I can feel my legs getting tight again, and I seem to have lost the flexibility I had gained.

I think my last bellydance performance inflated my head a little too much. After being able to do a decent backbend, I stopped doing my yoga because I thought my flexibility would last.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

So, I cleaned out my yoga mat, made sure my heart monitor still works, and did it. According to my schedule, it’s my rest day today, so I’m not doing any yoga today. But I did one yesterday (as said in the sched) and I have to do it again tomorrow, and probably on Saturday evening (although it said Saturday is a rest day, but hey, after doing house chores with a hunched back, I really need to reverse it before I sleep).

Anyway, I’m probably going to need some extra pillows here for yoga bolsters, since I can’t quite reach the floor again when I do my forward bend (T_T). According to my schedule, I’m supposed to stick with it for 3 months, before I can create my own work-out plan.

Whew. 3 months. But I know it’s for my own good. So yeah, totally going to stick with it this time.

A New Journey Begins: Zenkx’s YRG

Okay here we go…

I know I recently posted a video about this guy, who did Diamond Dallas Page’s YRG (or Yoga for Regular Guys):

Well, I’m about to embark on the same journey.

Yep, I recently purchased a set of DDP’s YRG Workout DVDs, and I am pretty excited. XD

I used to do yoga (back when I was obssessed with bellydancing), but often times I end up stopping when I’m tired from work, or just plain lazy. Hopefully, I won’t do the same with this. Honestly, I need someone who has a stick to hit me up the head when I say I’m too lazy to workout. XD

So let’s see… I think I should post stuff about my motivations and stuff. I’m at work (it’s my lunch break XD) so I can’t post all of my stats yet. I’ll get to that once I get a tape measure. XD

Current weight: 180 pounds or 81 kg(I rounded it off a bit, the weighting scale in my office says it’s 177, but that’s when I’m hungry XD)… yep, I’m 20 pounds shy of 200 pounds. T_T

Height: 5 feet, 2 inches (5’5 in my work heels XD)
Current age: 28
BMI (Body Mass Index): 32.9 (Obese) (gosh darnit ~_~)

Recommended Weight: 104 – 131 pounds (I’ll aim for at least 115)
Recommended BMI: 19 – 24 (Middle Ground again, around 20)
Total pounds to lose: 65 pounds

Aw dang… that’s a lot of weight to lose ~_~.

Anyway, I started doing it last night… or rather, the introduction of it, called The Diamond Dozen. It’s a tutorial of sorts, showing you the basic moves. And I sweated throughout doing it. XD

But I guess, that’s a good sign right?

The yoga felt great though, kind of like Rachel Brice’s Yoga DVD that I used to do, but it focuses more on flexibility. YRG became kind of like a strength training/ cardio for me, which is probably why I sweated so much. XD

Also I’ve decided to lower my serving of rice. This lunch I had half a cup of rice instead. The problem now is my serving at night XD. Maybe I should consider buying a cup measure just to be fair. A co-worker of mine suggested that I don’t eat dinner, but I don’t want to do that. I might end up getting hyperacidity, or worse, ulcer. ~_~

But I think I still need to do some major changes, like increasing my water intake for example. I only end up drinking around 5 to 6 cups a day (ouch), so I need to step that up a bit. Also I have to make sure that I do this like, every night before I go to bed. Maybe I should consider getting a calendar to mark it.

Hmm, so I guess I could consider this a Day 1 entry? Anyway, tonight should be my day 2, but I’m still going to do the Diamond Dozen for tonight, just to familiarize myself with the moves. Maybe by Wednesday night, I can one of the other sequences…

Body Stagnation?

Is there such a term like this? When someone hasn’t been exercising lately that they end up with creaking joints and flabby tummies? XD

Because I have that. XD

I really need to get moving again. Just this morning, I stretched my arms up and my back literally went “crack-tack-tack-tack!”

It’s been almost a year since I’ve stopped going to the gym and I’m gaining so much weight again. Hahaha! I consider this my normal cycle, but sometimes I feel it’s getting out of hand.

I know, I know… it’s my fault because I lack the will-power and discipline, and because of the fact that love food. But honestly, I am not getting any younger, so I really need to take care of my body now. Just yesterday I pulled five gray hairs out of my head. FIVE-FRICKIN-GRAY-HAIRS. For a single woman, that scares the heck out of me. (Although my father has the most glorious head of gray hair… it’s grey, but it’s still thick… and slightly unruly XD).

I’m thinking I should probably get my bike down from my hitch bike racks, or get my sister’s TV down again and do some yoga. I personally prefer the yoga more, although the recent butt cramp I had last year kinda scared me. >_<

I’m also planning to get an XBox this year, mainly because of Dance Central 1 to 3. That game has an exercise counter which counts how many calories I burn from dancing the steps. I just have to make sure that I choose the right songs that would get me moving…

And I’ll be sure to only pick, like, 3 non-dancing games so I won’t get stagnant playing that XBox. Hahaha! I think Assassin’s Creed, Saints Row the Third and Hitman: Absolution is enough. XD

Anyway back to topic, I wasn’t able to clean out my yoga mat yesterday (since my washing machine broke down and I had to wash ALL of my clothes by HAND T_T), but when I get the chance (and when the skies clear up of this rain), maybe I’ll start doing Yoga again. XD

Hell in a Heel?

I SERIOUSLY want one of these babies.

Unfortunately, I’m rather heavy, and although wearing heels might make me look sexier and taller (hahaha), I still get painful feet after wearing them for a long time.

Which is why I end up wearing flats, like, ALL the time.

Platformed shoes are fine for me too, but I really like one of those sky high heels. Maybe I should find spenco soles first before I wear heels like these. I have a pair of them in my closet, but I hardly wear them because my feet hurt like crazy at the end of the day.

Also, according to scientific research and study, there are actually a lot of dangers in wearing high heels all the time. High heels could end up disfiguring the bones of your feet, changing your straight, healthy posture into a curved one (causing your spine to create an unhealthy S shape) and causing bunions, hammertoes and other injuries to your tendons, ankles and toes.

I’m a regular flats wearer, and although I have sky high heels, I do not wear them all the time. I only use them for special occasions.

So for women everywhere who wear sky high heels all the time, research the effects of your heels to your body. It might be a good idea to learn from your research, since you don’t really need to risk your health for the sake of vanity.

As for me, I’ll just drool of the beauty of these shoes, and afterwards I’ll prance my way to a cake store. XD

It’s Here! My New Bellydance DVD

Yep! My Ariellah CD came in yesterday! Wheee!!

By the way, the Serpentine DVD was something I bought a while ago. Talk about being a fanatic.

Anyway, I was able to do some of Ariellah’s Yoga Conditioning last night. It made me sleep pretty late, but dang, it felt good. It stretched my muscles rather well, but I think Rachel’s DVD is better when it comes to training and stretching the spine.

Actually, both DVDs stretch and warms up the body well. It really does improve stability and balance and it really works well with getting the kinks out my spine. My back been hurting awfully lot for the last few days, that all this stretching is a huge relief. I guess that’s the price you pay for sitting slouched on an office chair for 8 hours, 5 times a week. Plus I was able to sweat quite a lot, particularly Rachel’s Yoga session. My Yoga mat needs to be disinfected to get the scent of sweat off of it. ~_~

It’s really great that I have these DVDs. Since I’m cost cutting (huhuhu T_T), I haven’t had the money to join a gym that has bellydance lessons. Okay, so maybe these two DVDs are more focused on Tribal and Tribal Fusion, but I think all in all, it’ll help with my flexibility. I was thinking that I’d strengthen my muscles a bit first with a couple of month’s work of Yoga, before proceeding with their drills and bellydance exercises. Hmm… that sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it?

But I think I’d better get some cost effective life insurance first. I’m afraid that with all this Yoga I’m doing, I’d end up knocking around furniture since my balance is awful. Not to mention that I think there’s a kink in my glutes (aka Butt Muscles). It’s getting kind of painful when I move. But then again, that’s a part of any work-out or exercise session.~_~

It’s Friday today, so I’m hoping to do some more yoga when I get home. Honestly… more people should consider doing yoga. I think the exercise and meditation would be great for everyone.

Back PAIN!!!! T_T

Speaking of yoga…

I think the cushion on my bed is messing with the alignment of my spine or something. Maybe I need to switch to barn wood furniture hard beds.

Not to mention the whole 8 hour hunching over a computer is hurting me.

I found this video about using yoga to help fix the realignment of the spine by stretches. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do these after the long weekend.

Anyway, I probably still need to fix my schedule so that I least have 3 days in a work week to do some serious yoga, so maybe the 4 day long weekend should help me fix everything and center my mind again.

Return to Yoga

And so, I’ve decided instead of moaning all the time about how I miss my bellydancing lessons, I’m going to go back to practicing yoga (even though I’m still very NOT flexible XD).

I’ve bought a new DVD, which SHOULD be arriving in 15 days… depending on the Philippine Post Office (~_~). It features Ariellah, one of the pioneers of Gothic Fusion Bellydance.

I have Rachel Brice’s DVD too, but I hate to admit for someone as flabby as I am, I’m having a hard time with it. According to my research, Ariellah’s DVD is much more beginner friendly.

Anyway, I have to go on vacation for a while, but I’m hoping to practice this once I come back. XD

I miss my bellydancing days… T_T

I really do. T_T

And it’s such a waste considering I look good in all those Moukaite Jasper Beads and feathers and all.

I haven’t had any good exercises recently and my pooch is showing up again with a vengeance (crap!). I was thinking of doing Rachel Brice’s Yoga again, but it takes about an hour and a half, so I’m trying to find a good time for it in my daily schedule.

Maybe I should try a 30-minute Sun Salutation and Dancing Warriors Yoga Routine? Hmm…

Anyway, even if I do yoga, I would still miss bellydancing. I miss my bellydance teacher too. Huhuhu.

Maybe I should try going back to the gym… but it’s going to cost me a couple thousand bucks again, which is hard considering I want to save up and use that 2k for our bills.

I miss bellydancing. T_T
