Dissidia is Final Fantasy Fangirl’s Wet Dream…

I swear it is…

So, I promised you guys a little blog about this game I am SO addicted to called “Dissidia: Final Fantasy”. And for FF (Final Fantasy) fans, yes, the title is in reverse.

Anyway, I know it’s been delayed, since Dissidia has been released months ago, but somehow, I get the feeling that very few fans appreciate the game. More particularly, very few female fans of the series appreciate it. So, here is an obsessed fans view of the game…

IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME! ^_^V

I came upon Dissidia late last March, after seeing the Japanese trailer of the game in Youtube. At first I thought it was a joke, I mean, who wouldn’t? Any fan of FF would think that it was impossible because there were too many characters in the FF series… how were they supposed to pick which ones to put in? But as it turns out, IT’S REAL! Hooray for Tetsuya Nomura and his FF genius!!! *bows down to Nomura’s godlike ability*

Anyway, ever since we got it, I’ve been so into it that right now, my sister hadn’t leveled up her characters in her other games (sorry Onee-chan ~_~), I have 4 characters in level 100 (soon to be 5 XD), and have so much Gil (the game’s monetary unit), that I don’t know where to spend it. But then, I have really crappy armor, so yeah… ~_~

Dissidia is a game about the typical battle between good and evil, but with a twist. Evil won the battle this time around, and hence, the characters have to fight to restore order in the world. Oooops, said some spoilers here didn’t I? Anyway, even with the spoilers, you’ll still want to play the game because
of the plot, storylines and battles.

There are a total of 22 characters you can play, 2 of them being hidden. 10 characters have storylines that you can play. The other 10 are the antagonists who spellcast, hit and laugh at you on your way to victory. These characters are:

FFI: Warrior of Light & Garland
FFII: Firion & The Emperor
FFIII: Onion Knight & Cloud of Darkness
FFIV: Cecil Harvey & Golbez
FFV: Bartz & Exdeath
FFVI: Terra & Kefka Palazzo
FFVII: Cloud Strife & hunky Sephiroth (Yes, I <3 Sephiroth)
FFVIII: Squall Leonhart & Ultimecia
FFIX: Zidane Tribal & Kuja
FFX: Tidus & Jecht

Each one of these characters have different strength and weaknesses, hence different playstyles. The player can choose which ones to use and therefore, abuse, to their liking. My personal preference is Sephiroth and Onion Knight, but that’s just me.

There are also several battle modes to choose from, and other things you can do in the game. Tired of Cloud’s Shinra uniform or Sephiroth’s black cloak? You can purchase alternate costumes for them in the game’s PP (Purchase Points) catalog. And soon you’ll be kicking butts with an Advent Children Cloud or (my personal favorite) the Shirtless, 6-pack ab-muscled Sephiroth. *falls off chair because of fangirl hysteria*

The game is not your average fighting game though. It still requires a great amount of thinking, planning and hand-eye coordination. Instead of a map to get to your final goal, you’ll playing in a sort-of chessboard, wherein the character you choose navigates its way. One wrong placing and you could get confronted with an overpowered foe! Yeah, that happened to me more than once. ~_~

And for FF perfectionists… those who tried to beat Ozma in FFIX, or completed the Cards in FFVIII, or learned all the skills in the Sphere Grid in FFX… the game also has a lot of completion quests for you that I’m sure you’ll be more than happy to finish! As I’m not that much of a game perfectionist, I’ll leave that part for you to discover. ^_~v

Also, being a fangirl, I’m not just attracted to the game’s graphics, battle styles, and challenges, but I’m the most attracted to the characters. Yep, Dissidia is a Bishounen (that’s pretty boy in Japanese) Haven. Sephiroth (granted he looks better in Crisis Core) looks awesome with his Masamune, as well as Cloud, Firion and Warrior of Light. Heck, even Ultimecia’s cleavege never looked yummier. HARHARHAR! Although, the only problem I have with the characters is Squall. He seems a bit… too emo for me in the game. Hmm… I guess it’s just me.

Anyway, I’m too psyched about this game, BUT!… I’m going to leave it you guys. Love it or hate it, COMMENT IT ALL!!!! Harharhar! All I know is, for me, it is a game that every FF fan should get and play.

But, it’s Monday, so it’s back to work. But come Sunday… BARTZ IS GOING TO LEVEL UP TO 100!!! Harharhar.
