An Aunt’s Pride

Yep! I am so proud of my nephew! XD

I told you guys already about how we had a Photowalk in Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City.

What I didn’t tell you is that my nephew won 2nd place in our Photo Challenge!

Me so proud! I almost had a heart attack because I was so happy! Maybe I should consider bringing a medical computer cart to check my vitals during photowalks. XD

I’ve been giving my nephew several lessons on how to shoot using his father’s DSLR, and my good ol’ Point and Shoot, and I’m happy to see that he’s doing great. So great, in fact, that I lost to him that day, having only 1 vote. XD

But hey, I’m just happy to see that he’s a great photographer, and that he has an eye for photography. I’ve encouraged him to keep at it, and hopefully, he’ll be a better photographer than I am.

Keep up the good work, dude! When we have another photowalk, I’ll make sure to bring you along again!

Bloggers Fest 2011

Yep, I’m in the Bloggers Fest right now! *hmm… is that they call a Live Feed…? I have no idea. XD*

It’s actually pretty cool to be here, it’s been a while since I have been to a Blogger’s event, and it’s my first time to attend a Bloggers Fest.

I’m with my friends from PnSers.comChief Raredog is here, so are our members clutch and Franz.

It’s great to be here… it’s almost like being in school again…. like, blogging school. Harharhar! It made me realize I still have a long way to go before I could consider myself a true blogger. More studying for me. XD

Anyway, thanks to Azrael Coladilla for coordinating this awesome event (all hail the Pinoy Blogging guru! XD) and thanks to all the speakers and people here. I hope this happens again and way more often. It’s a great stepping stone for new bloggers coming into the blogging scene. XD

Heading Back to Marinduque… Again

Yep, like I said before, this is going to be an every year thing for me….

I’ll be heading back to Marinduque on Holy Week again, but unfortunately, this time, it’ll only be me and my mother. Not sure about my brother’s family or his friends, but I’m hoping they’ll be able to come with us.

Personally, I need some rest and relaxation. Although Mariduque lacks in spa boutiques and spa gift baskets, I’m pretty sure the beach would be enough to calm me down and relax me. I love the scent of the ocean… it’s one of the most calming things ever for me… next to chocolates. XD

I’ve checked the local Moriones festival schedule, and it’s great to see that the Gasan-Gasan Festival would still be one. It’s one of the coolest parades on the island along with the Moriones Festival. Specially now, with my new PnS camera and the things I’ve learned from our camera club, I’ll be able to take much cooler and creative pictures. I can’t wait. XD

Speaking of camera club (and before heading over to Marinduque), our camera club is going to Daranak Falls in Rizal this Saturday… WHOOHOO! It’s been a while since I’ve been to a waterfall. I think there was a waterfall I went to when I was a child… Hinulugang Taktak, I think, was the name. But during my childhood it’s become quite polluted that we never came back to it. I’m hoping the experience that again, and take great pictures as well.

Anyway, for those interested about the Gasan-Gasan Festival, here’s a clip I took of the event last year. Hopefully, it’ll be just as fun and colorful as last time. XD

Shallow Field of Depth Practice

Yeah, I have so much to learn about photography…

Luckily, stuff that I carry around everyday make cool objects in a photograph, so I was able to practice. XD

I took this picture while waiting for our Yellow Cab pizza to bring to Kuya Alex’s Despidida (Farewell) party.

CLEFAIRY!!!! XD

PnSers.com

Yep, I’m a member of the  Point and Shooters Community Forum now. ^_^v

Mainly because I need to work on how to shoot with my camera…

For those of you who don’t know, PnSers.com is actually a site made by my blogging master, geri, as well as his friends to bring together different Point And Shoot camera users together to participate in photowalks and other events. They also help amateurs (like me ~_~) in taking great photos with digital cameras.

Most of my pictures are taken with my sister’s Nikon CoolPix L20… it’s an okay camera, but I have problems about how to handle it and how to use the different settings. I’m hoping I can learn a lot from them and participate in their photowalks soon. XD

Urban Ninjas!

I am SOOOOOO envious of these guys, but I get the feeling that I’d have to take fat burners justso  I can get their physique. XD

They’re called “urban ninjas”, basically they’re like ninjas… only they jump around urban areas. Which is pretty cool. If I had this kind of skill, I’d be jumping around the mall when I’m doing my shopping or freak out my cousins… hahaha.

I wonder what kind of training they do? Of course they’d have to learn gymnastics, maybe a little bit of ninjutsu as well. But then again, there are some people who could learn these types of moves just by practicing, although I get the feeling they’d experience more bumps and bruises and accidents than those who did training. XD

Steampunk Laptop

Ya know what would be so cool?

If I had one of these Steampunk custom laptops.

Yep, I also love the Steampunk fashion genre. What can say? I love mechanical stuff, even though I’m not much of a tinker. If this thing gets broken, I’m gonna have a hard time fixing it. XD

For those who wish to be educated in the world of fashion (harhar), steampunk is a sub-culture of science fiction, and it focuses more on the fashion statements made during the “steam era” or Victorian age, when steam power was first put to use and studied. Most of the time, steampunk fashion involves a lot of leather, copper, bronze and polished wood. Steampunk fanatics tend to “alter” certain objects, like these laptops or even cellphones, so that they would look like something that came out of a Jules Verne novel.

Unfortunately, steampunk is not readily available here in the Philippines, because it’s hard to find stuff like steampunk goggles and buckles and boots and stuff. Sheesh, I really wanted one of those steampunk goggles too… ~_~

The 9th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collection Convention

Like… OMG! OMG! OMG!!!

They finally have a set date for the 2010 ToyCon!

According to the Official website of the Phil. Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention (also known as ToyCon), it “will be held at the SM Megatrade Hall 2 and 3, Megamall, Mandaluyong City this June 19 & 20, 2010, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.”

This means… I need a Cosplay costume before June 19th!!! ~_~

Oh yeah, in case you haven’t noticed, I am a HUGE anime nut. Ever since I saw Voltes V and those sentai TV shows like Maskman, I’ve been into Japanese TV shows (even those batsu or punishment games shown in YouTube XD). And since I’ve visited the 2010 Otaku Expo, I have been hankering to get my hands on a costume worth cosplaying.

However, I am faced with the same dilemma that a lot of cosplayers go through… which is answering the question, “What character am I going to cosplay?”

I would really like to cosplay, but with my figure, it’s really hard to decide. I can’t exactly parade around MegaMall in a too-tight costume showing my wobbly bits to the people (and believe me, they are wobbly), so yeah, it’s hard to think about a costume that will compliment my size and shape. Not to mention there are issues about money and resources…

So, to you, my audience, I now ask a simple question. Which character can a 5 foot 3 fluffy woman with a weight of 80 kilos cosplay? And please… PLEASE don’t suggest Choji from Naruto. As much as I love Gaara, I’ve felt no feelings what-so-ever with the other characters of that anime. Well, maybe I CAN cosplay Tsunade… but I’m not a big fan of Naruto…

Geeze, God knows that if I had a figure of Angelina Jolie, I’d be parading around ToyCon in a Lara Croft outfit or something as bad a$$ and sexy as this chick:

Bayonetta

Look at all that leather…. XD

Mall Trippin’ feat. Lelai Part 3: Those Are BIG Teddy Bears

After my sister drooled all over Jacob Black’s six pack abs, and filling our stomach with Wham! Burgers, we saw a cute exhibit at the ground floor of SM Marikina called White Christmas exhibit, that features animatronic white animals. And of course, being the girls that we are (>_<) we squealed at the overflow of animal cuteness. Here's a bunch of pictures I took with my sister as the model and size comparison (she's 4'11 by the way, so you can just imagine the size of that Panda bear).

But after much sqealing, I’ve come to realize something. As much as the whole exhibit is for decorational purposes, it seemed like its a bit… well, misleading. There were kids during the exhibit, and they’re touching these animatronic bears and tigers. What if, heaven forbid, these kids were to interact with an actual tiger or bear? They’re going to think that this fluffy animal was just like the one they petted in the exhibit, and that it’s okay to touch them because it won’t harm them.

I don’t know, I guess it’s just me being weird… but then again, I’m always weird. XD

Tune in again next time when we explore the Cosplay Convention at SM Marikina this December 19-20, 2009! If I see a Sephiroth cosplayer (assuming he has the looks to match XD), I’M GONNA GLOMP HIM! XD
