VEIL POI!!!

I miss my bellydancing lessons. ~_~

Anyway, speaking of bellydance again, I have come to the conclusion that Zils are not quite the thing for me. Apparently, my fingers and feet are not that coordinated. ~_~

However, I did see this video in YouTube, and it made me WANT to make a Veil Poi (or Voi). And make an additional costume for it too.

I wonder if equipment leasing is allowed for wanna-be dress/costume makers…

Back to Veil Poi. The thing is, when I was very, very young, I used to do this kind of thing. I’d find one of my mother’s scarves or a strip of cloth, tie it to an end of a stick (or a walis tingting, as we Filipinos call it), and twirl around it. My mom would scold me because she’d end up with scarves with wrinkled corners, but I had a lot of fun doing it. But then of course, I stopped when I grew older.

Personally, next to Zills, Veils and Veil Poi are great accessories for a bellydancer, not to mention it really tones up your arms and add as a cardio exercise. Try twirling that for an hour and tell me that your shoulder’s didn’t hurt. XD

I was thinking of making one, using stuff that’s just around the house. The weight at the end of the poi is easy… just use a small bag filled with “munggo” seeds or rice (I remembered the game “Chinese Jackstone” when I was a kid. Anybody else remember that?) so that it wouldn’t hurt so much when it hits, but still slightly weighted. The silk scarves, I have plenty of. The handle is pretty easy too, since I’d just restitch my dog’s old leash. However, I am having some problems looking for a chain. I wonder what I can use for that. Maybe I can just use a ribbon? But that would be rather flimsy. It might snap when I twirl the Voi.

Hmm… all this blogging about Veil Poi is making me want to make one. Maybe I should. It would be great for Photoshoots for Pnsers.com, plus I can use it as extra exercise.

….

I need to find some tough chain or ribbon. ~_~

Zenkx… as a boy XD

Nah, just kidding!

This is actually a picture I found in the back of my closet, along an unopened plastic of adult diapers (from my mom was hospitalized for surgery, but she never used them) and well… my other personal items.

I swear, my closet is a forest. XD

Anyway, this is an old picture of me (circa 2007) when I had the “Sasuke Cut” (from Naruto). Actually… this was before the Naruto Fad started. I think I got the haircut from a member of My Chemical Romance. Yeah, I got it from the whole emo fad. ~_~

I found it while looking for old pictures of me with short hair. My hair is shoulder-length right now, trimmed once and a while, and it’s was getting really bothersome as I like the wind on my nape. I was thinking of a pixie cut, or something short with layers. I have a really round face, and it’s really hard to find a short cut for it. Not to mention it’s a little wavy when it grows back, since I’ve been rebonding it for three years now.

But now, I really HATE rebonding, and I really don’t want to do it anymore. I just want it to be low maintenance, but still pretty.

Oh man… somebody find me a decent hair stylist. ~_~

The Future Photographer?

Actually, that’s my nephew who has recently been into photography. He is so awesome.

And he’s so grown up! Sheesh! One of these days, I’m going to have to buy him some new parish clothing… he’s reaching my height already. ~_~

I took this photo when we ate out after his Elementary graduation. Sheeesh. The kid is in high school already… I can still remember when he was two years old, when we were sitting at the front seat of my mother’s car, singing “Eyes On Me” by Faye Wong while we waited for her to finish her shopping. Those were the days. T_T

He’s growing up way too fast for me. It makes me feel so old. XD

But, I’m still a bit happy, especially since I was able to teach him some photography. I actually envy him a bit, since he can use his parents’ Canon DSLR camera when he’s taking pictures. I hope he can harness his skills in photography, I could tell he has the eyes for it. Maybe when he reaches the proper age, I can be bring him to our photo walks.

Hmm… a 12-year old kid, capturing photos with a DSLR camera borrowed from his parent… it kind of reminds me of me when I was still using my dad’s SLR camera fifteen years ago. It kind of made me envious that he can use the DSLR, but then again, I have my own Point and Shoot camera that has yet to fail me. Hahaha. Besides, like my friends used to say, “it’s not the bow, it’s the Indian.” XD

Where’s Yoshitaka Amano-san? And Gaming News

With all these deaths and these tragedies going on in Japan, I’m beginning to worry about my favorite painter, Yoshitaka Amano. T_T

Oh man, I’m tearing up just worrying about him. (But hey, give me a break will ya? I already cried and howled with worry when I remembered Gackt, and I cried with joy when I found out he was alive ~_~).

Amano became my favorite painter after I saw his illustration of Final Fantasy VI in the internet, and after seeing his Vampire Hunter D art. They were masterpieces to me. The brushstrokes of his paintings were so fine, and it was just beautiful. I literally scourged around all National Bookstores in my area to find a copy of his collaborative work with Neil Gaiman called “Sandman: The Dream Hunters”. (sorry, Neil Gaiman fans, I liked the story, but I loved the art. XD)

I just hope he is okay. Amano-san, if you’re out there, please tell your fans that you are safe! We are so worried. T_T

*me regretting not being able to take online nursing degree begins now ~_~*

In other news about Japan, since I’ve already posted stuff about J-celebrities, it’s about time that I moved on to the every awesome Japanese Gaming Industry… which luckily will continue to thrive (hooray). Several of Japan’s gaming companies have now posted in Twitter about they’re current statuses. The first one I checked was Square Enix (of course, I’d try to find them first, they made the FF series!) and luckily they are all fine, although they’re online servers will be down for the week and probably longer due to power issues. Sony Entertainment is also okay, so are the Sega Community and Nintendo company. Hideo Kojima, of Kojima Productions and Konami (also creator of the gad-awesome Metal Gear series) is also okay.

Unfortunately, due to the destruction and also power outages in Japan, it has been announced that several games will have delivery issues, or will end up being altered or cancelled.

Ouch, I just hope Dissidia 012 won’t be one of them. ~_~

I hope that all these people are well somewhere, surrounded by people who have had online nursing degree to take care of them.

See You In 2 Years!

*my nephew, Alexis… HE IS SUCH A CUTIE! ^_^*

No, not me… my cousin! XD

Yep, my cousin Alex is heading back to London to raise their children and continue with their healthcare jobs.

Awww me so sad. T_T

Luckily, my mom was able to buy some gifts for their children. She gave my niece, Alexa, some really nice clothes, and she gave Alexis a really, really, REALLY cute hat.

Hats like these are really cuter on kids than on adults… hahaha! I should know, I wear those kind of hats all the time.

We won’t be able to see them again for two or three years, so by then Alexa would be around 8, and Alexis would be 3 years old. Waaahh… they grow up so fast!

Anyway, see yah in two years guys! We’ll be waiting for you! ^_^v

The Avengers Movie Project

I swear, all these comic book movies are making me so excited! My heart is going so fast, I swear it’s like I ran or took diet tablets.

THE AVENGER’S MOVIE IN 2012, PEOPLE!!!

Awesome! It’s been confirmed that The Avengers is set to release in 2012. The production crew had already chosen some new (and old) actors to play one of my favorite comic book groups. So far, these are the confirmed actors/superheroes for the movie:

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Ironman
Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow
Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Chris Evans as Captain America
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/ The Incredible Hulk
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

Hmm… I’m actually suprised that Spiderman and Wolverine isn’t included in the list, since they are two of the most recognizable Avengers in the comic books. But according to some sources, the reason why Spiderman wasn’t included is that there is already a new Spiderman film being made. Apparently, the ones that Toby Maguire did needed a little tweaking. And as for Wolverine, it’s been said that another X-Men:Origins film is being produced, but is yet to be confirmed.

I’m actually a little disappointed to not see Edward Norton reprise the role of Bruce Banner. I think he was great at that movie. Mark Rufallo needs to step up his game, and brings justice to the role of Hulk. As for Jeremy Renner, I know for a fact that he is a great actor due to his acting in the Hurt Locker. I think dressing up as Hawkeye will be easy for him.

I’m also a bit disappointed at Chris Evans. I mean, so many movie fans have gotten so used to him being The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies… why did have to go and star as Captain America as well? I have no issues with his acting, I just wish he (and the other actors from the Fantastic Four films) would appear as another member of the Avengers, which he had already played. I think I’m much used to him being Johnny Storm than Captain America….

Anyway, maybe I shouldn’t critique it too much yet, specially with a director like Joss Whedon at the helm, I bet it’s going to be an awesome movie. Sheesh, 2011 just started, but now I’m wishing it’s 2012 already just because of this project. XD

My New Nephew!!!

Hey! I have another nephew!

This here is baby Alexis, and he is my cousin’s second child. His sister, Alexa, is one of my favorite nieces because she’s a cute kid. I had the pleasure of riding with them, along with my Auntie Em and Cousin Gem. Alexis was being carried by his grandmom, while I sat beside Alexa while she sat on her brother’s ergo baby carrier.

He is so cute! XD

Alexa and Alexis were both born in London, where their dad (my cousin), Alex works. He’s a nurse there, along with his wife, Elvie, who wasn’t able to come to our celebrations in Pangasinan because she ran out of leave from work. (Don’t worry, Ate Elvie, I ate enough food to fill your place XD).

There was a point in time when I had a tally of how many nephews and nieces I have, but now I lost count! Harharhar.

The whole “Alex” family will be leaving for London again soon (huhuhu) and I’m going to miss Alexa and Alexis a lot. I just hope that they would still be the same happy (slightly older) kids when I see them again, and I hope they would still be the same happy kids that I know. XD

Roval And Me

I was watching “Marley And Me” a few moments ago, and it made me cry again. ~_~

Like serious-waterworks-from-the-eyes kind of crying.

Maybe because it’s because I miss my old German Shepherd, Roval, who died 4 years ago.

He was such an awesome dog, although he was quite a pain in the butt to walk, just like Marley. He would run, and chase cats and bark at other dogs that we were passing by. I mean, for those who ever owned like big dogs, you understand what I’m talking about. XD

But walking him, for me, was quite therapeutic. Sure, he was a dog, but whenever I sit down for a moment to rest and think things through, he was there sitting beside me. I’d talk about stuff, and even though I don’t know if he’d ever understand me, he was there looking at me with those puppy-dog eyes that made me feel like everything was going to be alright.

Anyway, I just miss having a dog again. My mom forbids it now, ever since Roval and one of our other dogs, Porkchop, died of diseases in an animal hospital.

I need a new pet. Maybe I should start thinking about keeping fish in my room. XD

Nephie’s Birthday!!!

Yep, it’s my nephew’s birthday today. Whooooo! *ala Rick Flair* He’s turning 12 today. Which is pretty cool. He grows up so fast. XD

Actually, it kind of sucks a little, because it’s his birthdays that makes me feel older, rather than my own birthdays. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be 18 pretty quickly, which I dread, because by that time I’d around my thirties. Argh!

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NEPHEW! ^_^v

Of Seether and Childhood regrets

Okay, I’m home. XD

Actually, it’s been a couple of hours since I’ve been home, but it’s only now that I’m able to use the computer.

Anyway, recently, my friend Jam posted a link on my Facebook site about a new remake that Seether made. They recently made a remake of Wham/ George Micheal’s song called “Careless Whisper”. I’m listening to it right now, and I am just LOVIN’ IT! It’s pretty cool, hearing the sax solo from the previous versions converted into Electric guitar, and it still sounds the same. Honestly, I am starting to regret not taking guitar lessons from my brother, or stopping the piano lessons I had when I was a kid.

I can’t seem to remember why I stopped taking piano lessons. I think I got bored. My Teacher then was very strict, and my fingers sucked when it comes to pressing the right keys on the piano (you should see it on a keyboard though hahaha!). Oh, not to mention there was a time the cover of the keyboard feel on my hands and squished them. I guess I got traumatized after that.

Oh, and I had guitar lessons from my bestfriend too, but I didn’t have the patience to learn it though. Yeah, I suck as a music student.

Back to Seether, I think a lot of bands should do the same thing… you know, make remakes that are appropriate for their genre. Metallica did an awesome job with Bob Seger’s Turn The Page, and even Marilyn Manson did a good job remaking the Eurythmics’ song Sweet Dreams (though its a bit darker than Annie Lennox’s version). I can’t say the same thing with Limp Bizkit’s version of Behind Blue Eyes… a lot of other people loved it, but for some reason, I can’t seem to like it as much as they do. I mean, yeah, the lyrics are good, but I don’t know, I guess Fred Durst’s voice wasn’t cut out for ballads like that.

Anyway, back to the original topic, Seether’s Careless Whisper remake is awesome. I would’ve wanted to play it over in my office, but I doubt the people there would welcome such loud music, specially since I’m working in a Library. XD

Time to download it and put in my MP3 player.
