I miss my bellydancing days… T_T

I really do. T_T

And it’s such a waste considering I look good in all those Moukaite Jasper Beads and feathers and all.

I haven’t had any good exercises recently and my pooch is showing up again with a vengeance (crap!). I was thinking of doing Rachel Brice’s Yoga again, but it takes about an hour and a half, so I’m trying to find a good time for it in my daily schedule.

Maybe I should try a 30-minute Sun Salutation and Dancing Warriors Yoga Routine? Hmm…

Anyway, even if I do yoga, I would still miss bellydancing. I miss my bellydance teacher too. Huhuhu.

Maybe I should try going back to the gym… but it’s going to cost me a couple thousand bucks again, which is hard considering I want to save up and use that 2k for our bills.

Crap.

I miss bellydancing. T_T

Ruby Rodriguez on the Biggest Loser…?

Ok, I hate to admit it, but I am a HUGE couch potato. A lot of people consider it as a bad thing, but sometimes it’s still gives me some pretty good topics to think about.

For instance, I was watching TV when I saw Filipina celebrity, Ruby Rodriguez, in a commercial for The Biggest Loser Asia. It turns out she applied in the contest, and she aims to be able to lose weight with the help of the program.

Now, ever since I was a child, I have been a huge fan of Ruby. My family watches “Eat Bulaga” all the time, even until now, and nothing seems to light up the screen like Ruby’s smile. Even with all those sexy dancers around, it was Ruby’s smile and outgoing personality that captured me. Even when she’s doing movies, her emotions show up so wonderfully and her humor is amazing. And when I grew up and became the fluffy person that I am, I looked up to her, because she embodied what a fluffy person ought to be… a smiling, happy-go-lucky human who thinks nothing about what society tells her about her weight.

Seeing her on the auditions of the Biggest Loser made me think, “What ever happened to the celebrity I idolized? Why does she want to lose weight?” I would’ve understood her if she had some sort of medical condition, like Missy Elliot, who made a drastic weight loss that shocked the music business because of health issues. But as I listened to the commercial, it turns out that one of her reasons was because of vanity. She is a celebrity, and yet people criticize her and bully her because she’s fat.

Here’s a short interview of Ruby Rodriguez during her audition on the Biggest Loser Asia:

This is why I hate society sometimes. They just want everyone to be damn perfect. Everyone aims to be something beautiful, that they end up doing all these weird and painful things just to get it. Nose lift, boob lifts, stomach stapling… for me, it’s just so weird. God gave us these bodies, who are we to change the blessings that He gave us? I’m fat too, and I know someday that I’ll have to exercise as well once I get health problems, but I will most definetely NOT exercise because “someone told me to start losing weight because it’s ugly to be fat”.

I believe Ms. Ruby is a wonderful person, and she’s a beautiful woman, it’s just that people can’t seem to overlook the fact that she’s fluffy. I get the same thing too. The “oh-you’re-so-pretty-but-you’re-just-so-fat” comments. Normally, I turn a deaf ear on those comments (and believe me when I say I get it a lot, specially from my mother), but when you’re a celebrity, it’s pretty hard to ignore. I feel Ms. Rodriguez’ pain with all the criticism, and I understand why she would want to join the Biggest Loser. I just wish that she could read this so I could tell her that she shouldn’t join the Biggest Loser just because people bully her and criticize her of her weight. She should join the contest because she wants to be healthier, take care of her body and get rid of all her health issues. I’m sure a lot of fluffy persons like me would idolized her more if said something like that.

In the words of Jonathan Ian Mathers (creator of Neurotically Yours), “F**k society and their obsession with idealistic beauty!”. People should be happy with what they’ve got, it’s what God gave them, society’s view on vanity be damned. God gave people life. I, for one, will not waste it on trying be something I’m not . If God has willed me to die a cholesterol-induced death, then so be it!

Anyway, to Ms. Ruby Rodriguez, idol of fluffy Filipinas everywhere, if she does get into the Biggest Loser, I hope she does well and gets healthy. And to all the people who criticized her, made fun of her and bullied her (and all fluffy people), go stuff yourself with celery sticks, you perfectionist pricks! ~_~
