Designs By Monday

So a friend of mine, Carlo, told me to “Like” their new project called “Designs By Monday”, and I absolutely love their designs.

I was able to order one of these from my friend. It’s a spoof of the movie “The 300”, but instead of Leonidas, it has the First Filipino Hero, Lapu-Lapu on it instead, with the year of the Battle of Mactan (1521).

It is SO kick-ass! XD

They have another one, which involves Andres Bonifacio, which I’ll be ordering again next month. I have yet to get this shirt from them, but the design is so awesome. I think I’ll get it by Saturday.

People should have more custom t-shirts like these. Seriously. A lot of people actually don’t know about Philippine heroes, so it’s cool that Designs By Monday could make something this great. Philippine heroes are just as kick-ass as Leonidas or Professor X (whoops, spoiler there), and should be treated with respect and admiration. It’s like they’re modernizing the concept of Phil. Heroes so that the younger generation could relate to their greatness, and understand the sacrifices they made for the country.

I hope they make one with Gabriela Silang and Wonder Woman… I’d buy that as soon as possible. GO, WOMEN!!! XD

Hmm… that got me thinking. Maybe I can help with some of the design ideas too. Hahaha! But, I can only give ideas, since I suck at Photoshop and photo-editing softwares. ~_~

Anyway, they’ll have more designs and ideas soon. But if you want to order or inquire about their shirts, you can message them via FaceBook:

I need a new watch ~_~

Actually wait… no… I have one of these:

Unfortunately, I don’t know where to put this when I’m wearing my uniform. ~_~

It’s actually Edward Elric’s pocket watch from Fullmetal Alchemist. My sister gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago.

I think I need a wristwatch though, but nothing fancy. Even though I really want to use this watch.~_~

And… I don’t even know how to put this on a shirt. Am I supposed to clip this on my belt like Edward does? It doesn’t seem to have a belt attachment.

Can anybody help me figure how to put this thing on, specially if I don’t have a pocket in my pants? ~_~

Gustav Klimt

Hey, Google’s got a cool cover today.

For those who don’t know, this is Gustav Klimt’s painting, called “The Kiss”. Which, at first to me, looked like a very trippy painting and it had too much yellows that I feel I needed Ray Ban Aviator glasses to cover up my eyes. It’s actually Gustav Klimt’s birthday today, July 14.

But it soon grew on me, and it’s one of my favorite art pieces now. Of course, Yoshitaka Amano is still my favorite artist.

Not to mention that if you’re familiar with the ultra-violent Anime “Elfen Lied”, you’d be familiar with it.

I didn’t realize how much I’m into art now. A long time ago, I’ve always thought that I’d be a painter. But my art is not that good, so I ditched it. My bestfriend, Joyce, would probably be a much painter than I am, anyway.

But as it turns out my “real” art lies with words. Sure, I haven’t done a good non-fanfiction story yet, but I hope in time, I would. I probably won’t making a story as Tolkien’s or Rowling, but hey, you’ll never know.

As Neil Gaiman said, “Make good art”. Like Klimt. Or Tolkien.

Hopefully, I’ll be making my own art soon.

Early Morning Wake-Up Ukulele?

Is it so wrong of me to wish I could do something like this on my wood daybed frame at 5am in the morning? XD

Anyway, My Ukulele Obsession would’ve has reached new heights if I would want to play ukulele at such an early time. Every one in my house is still sleeping, and I’m probably going to wake everyone up if I do this.

I’m really beginning to enjoy playing the ukulele… it’s actually shocking since I’ve never really been so obsessed about something like this.

Don’t get me wrong. I still suck a little… I can’t sing for the life of me. And I just found out that there’s a strumming technique I can’t do (huhuhu T_T). But as far as being a beginner, I think I’m doing pretty good. Especially now that I’ve bought a decent beginner’s ukulele. Which I will tell you about some other time. XD

Not to mention I’ve just found someone here in Manila who sells D’Addario Ukulele strings! Whooot!

*So yeah… this is probably one of the reasons why I haven’t been blogging lately. My brand-spanking-new ukulele sounds positively AWESOME with D’Addario strings XD*

Hmm… maybe I’ll do this kind of early morning ukulele when I’m alone at home sometime. XD

Whatever Happened to the “Huling El Bimbo” girl?

This question came up rather randomly in my head. I’ve been very busy trying to read more now (especially The Hobbit book, since it’s coming out pretty soon), and during one of my lapses of reading I heard the Eraserhead’s “Ang Huling El Bimbo”.

Then I remembered the girl who was dancing in the video. I remembered her because she was so cute in that video. Quite an actress for such a young age.

Which made me realize, whatever happened to her? I don’t think she rose to stardom ever since that video was made. Which is quite a shame, really. For a few moments, this girl actually stole the show.

I’m actually learning to play this on the ukulele. It’s actually weird, since not as haunting in meaning with the ukulele. Maybe this song is reserved for the acoustic guitar.

Anyway, does anyone have any news about the girl? Or the woman in this video? This song and MTV won so many awards long ago, I hope they got a portion of the profits from this project, since it’s a really haunting video.

They don’t make music videos like these anymore. Sheesh.

Amanda Palmer/ Ukulele Obsession

I am positively, absolutely, no-doubt-about-it, head-over-heels in love with this artist.

I even bought a ukulele (the same instrument she’s using) just so I’d be able to play it like her…

Obsessed much? Harharhar. XD

Reverse Graffiti

They should consider doing this to the walls here in the Philippines. It’s not as environmentally hazardous, but it’s still some pretty cool art.

Take a hint, Graffiti artists. XD

The Origin of Planking

So where exactly did it start?

A lot of people are actually beginning to ask where the fad of “planking” (otherwise known as “the lying down game”) actually started. It’s a game where someone lies down flat on a certain surface… like in a table or even on a streetlight, and having their picture taken like they’re some sort of human Halloween decorations.

So, where exactly did it start? And who the heck started it? A lot of people says it started around the 2000, but actually started way longer than that.

Planking was actually “created” by the American prankster, Tom Green, way back in 1994, as an experiment to see who would actually “help” him to see if he was injured.

HDR Photography Testing

During the PnSers Photowalk recently, I decided to try my hand at HDR (or High Dynamic Range) Photography, since I’ve always wanted to test it out on landscapes and steel buildings and stuff.

This is what I came up with:

Meh… I think it would’ve been prettier if the canal had been much cleaner. XD

Anyway, it’s not so bad, I guess. The point is, I was able to get how to do it right, thanks to my blogging (and now photography) guru, raredog. I need lots of practice for this, because I have issues with my stabilization (my hands shake REALLY badly ~_~)… I’m going to have to keep using a tripod or a monopod if I need to stabilize myself. ~_~ I’m hoping I’ll be able to use this sort of photography technique when I spend some vacation time in Pangasinan or Marinduque.

The photowalk also included a half-day long workshop on basic photography, and I was able to get a few pointers on how to use the “Manual” mode of my beloved Fujifilm S1800 (which reminds me, I’m kind of envious of raredog and one of our members… they have a name for their camera…. maybe I should come up with one as well? XD). I’ll posting more pictures of my shots soon. ^_^v

So, back to practicing! XD
