So You Think You Can Dance?

I can’t. XD

My sister and I having watching reruns of “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 4 (geeze, everything I watch are reruns XD), and I became painfully envious of one of their dancers, Katee Shean. She is so frickin’ flexible! I swear, if I had the skill flexibility like hers, I would’ve danced… like… everywhere. XD
Anyway, this one is one of my favorite performances from Katee (and the season’s winner Joshua Allen).

I wonder when they will have a Philippines version of “So You Think You Can Dance”? That’d be pretty cool, since so many Filipinos love to dance. XD

A Chubby Shopper’s Woes

It’s a fabolous blouse isn’t it? Unfortunately, I bought a similar blouse a couple of days ago.

I was shopping at a local mall here, when I spotted the same looking blouse at one of the stores here. And stupid me, I didn’t look at the store’s logo. ~_~

As I was about to bring the blouse to the cashier, one of the clerks said, “Would you like to see some of our prenatal vitamins here, Ma’am? We’ve having a discount.” And that’s when I realized that I was actually in a maternity clothing store. XD

Yeah, a lot people often make that mistake about me, and also my sister. Apparently, there’s no physical difference between being pregnant and being fluffy nowadays. Sheesh. I guess my gut really IS that big, that people tend to think that I’m pregnant. Sometimes, I even buy clothes at that I didn’t know belong in a preggy figure. I don’t know whether to be amused or insulted… but I think I’m leaning more to amused. XD

But I guess it’s better that I’m a chubby woman than a chubby man. At least people won’t make fun of my man-gut. Hahaha!

The World’s Ugliest Dog Dies at 17

Yep, the official world’s ugliest dog, Miss Ellie, died a few days ago. She was 17 (in human years XD).

Miss Ellie is a Chinese Crested hairless dog, known to have only a few tufts of hair on their head and legs, as well as skin that looked like it got infected with some sort of eczema or skin disease (when actually, it’s just really bumpy skin). Miss Ellie won Animal Planet’s “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest held last 2009, when she was entered by her owner, Dawn Goehring.

In truth, Chinese Crested dogs are actually considered as celebrity dogs. Despite their rather strange appearance, they actually make pretty good lap dogs, since they don’t pant too much, having sweat glands unlike other dog breeds. They’re great family dogs, because they don’t require much exercise, so they’re good for kids and the elderly. It’s also a great attention seeker, since very few people actually own these dogs.

As for me, I’m going to stick to my original plan of getting a Labrador or a Poodle. But still, having a Chinese Crested dog might be good. Maybe people would stop paying too much attention to my figure and focus it on my dog instead. Haha.

Anyway, I’m sure Miss Ellie was a great dog, despite of her appearance, and I hope she’s having a great time in her place at the great Fire Hydrant in the sky.

The Guatemala Sink Hole

DUDE!!!

Have you guys seen this?

You probably have, since this sink hole is probably on the cover of every newspaper and being televised in every news channel.

It’s just so… freaky. Reports say that it was poor construction of pipelines in Guatemala that caused this sink hole. But looking down at it, it’s almost like the Earth just swallowed up the part of this intersection. My sister even said it looked like the sink holes the Silver Surfer made in the “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” movie released a few years ago. (The aliens are upon us! Haha! Just kidding!)

It’s scary to think that something like this can be caused by man’s own hand, and poor engineering skills. It really does look like something nature would do to retaliate against our greed for land.

I just hope that this incident doesn’t repeat itself. Brrr… it gives me shivers just looking at that picture. It almost looks like that hole goes all the way down the Earth’s core. ~_~

Hang-Over Remedies

Photobucket

Yep, after a night of some light drinking, my head feels like lead again.

I’m not really a heavy drinker, but I do get rather tipsy easily. And when I do, I’m pretty sure that my head will hurt the next morning, even if I only drank like a couple of beers.

But after searching through the web, I was able to find some natural cures for hangover-related headaches. So before opening up a bottle of migraine treatment or pills, why not try out these home cure? Who knows, it might be effective:

Home Health Remedies:

  • Do not have an alcoholic drink in the morning as a cure for a hangover. Another drink does not help and may only make your hangover worse.
  • Some people think that having a cup of coffee will help to drive away your hangover. NOT TRUE. Avoid coffees and any other caffeinated beverages as they can cause you further dehydration.
  • Take Vitamin C as it may increase the rate of alcohol breakdown in the body.
  • Alcohol causes dehydration, so drink plenty of water. Also drink fruit juices and tomato juice.
  • Bouillon soup or sports beverages (i.e. Gatorade) may help replace depleted salt and potassium.
  • Try a cold pack to relieve headache pain.
  • For a headache, take acetaminophen unless you have known liver disease or drink heavily and, therefore, may be at risk for liver disease.
  • Alcohol consumption can irritate your stomach lining so avoid aspirin and ibuprofen since they may only serve to increase this irritation.
  • For an upset stomach, try an over-the-counter antacid. Peppermint and chamomile tea may also help.

Prevention of the hangover in the future

  • Never drink on an empty stomach. Food helps to absorb some of the alcohol and aids the body in digesting it faster.
  • Try to eat starchy foods to slow down the alcohol absorption.
  • Limit yourself to less than 1 drink per hour.
  • Try to alternate your alcoholic drinks with nonalcoholic beverages such as water.
  • Stick to non-carbonated drinks as carbonation can speed up the alcohol absorption.
  • Try to avoid sweet drinks (and sugary foods) while you drink. The sweet taste of the drink can make it difficult for you to judge how much alcohol you’re actually consuming.
  • Be sure to choose drinks with low levels of congeners (light drinks such as white wines, gin, and vodka) – these are additives that are found in alcohol that increase your risk of a hangover. Dark-colored drinks (such as red wine, bourbon, and rum) have higher levels of congeners and should be avoided as often as possible.
  • Drink lots of water before you go to bed.
  • Get plenty of rest.

Pet Society… Can Mean Serious Business

Photobucket

Well, sort of. XD

During the SM Taytay WiFi Launch Event, I also joined the CyberPet Fashion contest with my Pet Society kitty, Doki-chan.

And wouldn’t you know it, we won 2nd place! ^_^v

Yeah, I’m still a little disappointed I didn’t win first place, maybe I should’ve added more modern furniture to Doki’s home to improve the way she looked when the judges peaked at my choice of wardrobe. Doki’s clothes are all nice and girly, but her whole room looked like a set from a horror movie. Harhar! Not to mention the Champion was already high leveled, so he pretty much had all of the nice stuff. IMBA!* ^_^v

Anyway, it’s not too shabby. We won a P500 gift check from SM, which unfortunately, my sister has reserved for buying movie passes for the latest Twilight movie. ARRRGGHH. Which probably means I’m going to be staring at Taylor Lautner’s abs again instead of Robert Pattinson’s face.

(*Note: IMBA = imbalance/d. It’s a common gamer’s lingo that means the opponent is too strong or high level compared to your character or your team. ^_^v)

Whoo-hoo Zambales!!! ^_^v

Photobucket

Whew… one of these days I’m going to need a pulse oximeter permanently installed to my wrist. XD

We just had our company’s Team Building/ Outing… and boy, did it knock the life out of me.

raredog happened to be one of our event’s game master, along with marjonelle, and I tell you, the games they prepared are some of the toughest games I ever participated in, specially with my rather large build.

Luckily, the place where we held the outing was in Zambales, and we were situated by the sea, so yeah, after the grueling games, we were able to get some R&R afterwards by swimming. And what’s cool is, I was able to do one of the most favorite things I love doing, which is watching the sky and the stars while floating in water. XD

Plus, our group won 3rd Place! ^_^v

Of course when I came home, I became painfully aware of my health issues again, mainly because my muscles and joints started aching again. Hahaha!

All in all, it was a heck lot of fun, but like i always say, I really need to hit the frickin’ gym. XD

Food Trippin’ @ SM Taytay’s WiFi Launch Event

Yep, I’m here right now in SM Taytay for their Wifi Launch with my mentor, raredog. And boy, It’s turning to be quite an event. They have so many contests prepared, and I’m just feeling my hyper-energetic alter-ego coming in. Hehehehehe!!!

Anyway, one of the contest I joined included the Blogging contest, where we were allowed to sample the food here at SM Taytay’s Food Court. When they announced it that we were going to eat, I thought I heard angels singing, I swear. I was so hungry! And a big girl like me has got to eat. ^_^v

So they gave us these food stubs, and we went around and got the food we were assigned to critique. The food pretty much filled my tray, so I sort of braced myself… there was going to be a lot of eating involved. Luckily, I’m fluffy and have plenty of room to spare on my tummy. ^_^v

So, I was able to get a serving of Lechon Paksiw from Lydia’s Lechon, Pancit and Kaldereta from Kusina ni Gracia, 2 Snowpy sundaes and a cup of Buko juice  from Buko ni Fruitas. (I told it was a lot of eating.)

* whew, looks yummy doesn’t it :-) *

The first thing I took a bit out of is from the Lechon Paksiw. I really love Lechon Paksiw, and with the way that Lydia’s Lechon prepared it is great. It was tender and juicy, and the flavor is not that over powering. I’ve had some Lechon Paksiws before where the vinegar overpowers the flavor of the pork too much. Luckily, Lydia’s was able to tone down the vinegar flavor so that the pork can still be tasted. Plus, it seemed to me that the flavor seeped into the pork, and when you take a bit of it, the flavor just explodes in your mouth. It was great, all in all.

Next up, Kusina ni Gracia’s Pancit and Kaldereta meal. In my family, pancit is a part of our heritage. Both my mother’s side and my father’s side each have their own way of preparing the dish. And as it turns out, Kusina’s version of the pancit is the just the way I like it, like the way my mom makes it. In my dad’s side, the pancit is salty, peppered heavily and has soggy vegetables, but Kusina ni Gracia cooked it like my mom made it, with well cooked noodles, half-cooked veggies (yep I love half-cooked veggies) and just with the right seasoning. As for their Kaldereta, it’s pretty great too. It’s not too spicy, nor too salty, and the meat seemed like it was pressure cooked so it’s nice and tender. Great job to the crew of Kusina ni Gracia for making such a great meal!

And finally, the sweet deserts from Snowpy, which definitely curbed my sweet tooth. Quite frankly, I didn’t know there was a soft ice cream that had buko pandan flavor. Hmm… I should order that more often. And of course, the buko juice from Buko ni Fruitas. Well, what can I say? It’s buko juice at it’s natural state. Fresh from the Buko Fruit, and without any sweeteners. It’s actually a great way to finish the meal, since the buko juice cleared my taste buds, and made me want to taste more things.

But unfortunately, I am so full of great food right now, which kind of surprised me since I didn’t realize my stomach had a content limit. Harharhar! Actually, I feel like smoking right now from being so full… I just wish there was like a smoking area nearby. Haha! Just kidding!

Up next: My Pet Society kitty, Doki-Chan and I battle the other contestants for the Cyber Pet Beauty Contest! ^_^v

Thanks to all the sponsors again for the great food! ^_^v

Fun With The Dagger of Time (A Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time Rave!)

As it turns out, I’m not the only one totally hyped about The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Sir Azrael is another blogger who can’t wait for it too!

I actually played PoP:SoT a long time ago with my brother. At one point he had to go fetch some food, and asked me to control the game for a bit. It was way, WAAAYY harder than I thought it would be, since it takes a lot of strategy to time your dodges, attack and jumps, even about how you use the Dagger of Time. And yes, I was one of those typical blood-hungry gamers who just hack and slash without no strategy whatsoever.

And with the new movie coming out, I guess I had a flashback about the game. It was as if the Prince was made for Jake Gyllenhaal! He looks so yummy in this movie, I swear. XD

And the graphics… Oh MAN! It looked so awesome! It looked just like it did in the videogame… and maybe even better! It already looks good in 2d, what more if it was released in 3D? You could see the particles of sand just floating right in front of you!

After playing the game, and seeing the preview of the movie, I actually got to thinking, “if the Dagger of Time was real and in my possession, what would I do with it?” And so, I made this rather short list of the things I’d do… although you’d have to pardon some of the things I’ve put in this list. I’m having one of my evil days again. >:)

20 Things I’d Do If I Had The Dagger of Time:

1. Watch some random guy pick his nose again… and again… and again…

2. Fast forward my commute to work…

3. Come to work late, then just rewind time so I can log in early.

4. Rewind my life every time someone insults me, so I can hit them over and over again.

5. Slow down time so I can get the plate number of that stupid jeep that nearly ran me over.

6. In connection, speed up time so that abusive motorcyclists would speed up and ram themselves into trees. (see? I told you I’m evil >:) )

7. Pull my guy friends and head to the beach, and slow things down so they can watch bikini clad girls running… with a certain fee of course… then

8. I’d use the dagger to watch buffed, muscular, hot men as they run around the beach with just their shorts on. Rrwarr!

9. Head over to the poker tables in casinos, and use the dagger’s stopping ability to cheat. (have I told you I’m evil XD)

10. Go back in time, and smack my 23-year-old-self for leaving the gym. XD

11. Use the dagger to go back in time… and assassinate Hitler myself.

12. Watch drag races, and use the dagger to slow things down to see how the winner won…

13. Go back in time and tell my mother to be careful of what she eats, so that she would have no diabetes when I return to the present… T_T

14. Fast forward my paperwork.

15. Slow down my lunch breaks harhar.

16. Stop everything using the dagger so I can cross the road safely.

17. Speed up the growth of my garden plants… so I can have instant mangoes, malunggay and gabis in the backyard.

18. Fast forward time to see what lottery numbers come out, then rewind time so I can bet on the winning numbers. Harhar!

19. rewind time so I can warn people abut future catastrophes and crimes, like floods or earthquakes and stuff… I’d be a superhero and be called Time Bandit or Time Surfer or something. O_o

20. I’d watch The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, showing in all Philippine cinemas on May 27, 2010 over and over again!!!

So what about you guys? What stuff would you do if you had the Dagger of Time?

Me wants a Nokia X6

Yep, me wants it, my precioussss!!!

Unfortunately I don’t think I can afford it yet. Maybe I can have one of those purchase order financing to help me get this phone. ^_^

I’m currently using a Nokia N95, which have been my faithful companion in blogging and picture taking. But as mentioned in the review in GSM Arena, it’s battery life pretty much sucks, and I am such a music and InterNet fan, so the battery life of my N95 is a disadvantage for me when I’m soundtripping or updating my Facebook with it.

Anyway, after reading through GSM Arena’s review of the Nokia X6 here, I’m beginning to like it, and much worse, want it. It just seems like a really cool phone, unfortunately, it was mentioned that the screen is awful in sunlight, but what the heck. I got 4 eyes anyway (with my glasses ^_^v).

I asked around a local mall as to how much this lovely gadget costs, unfortunately the price is just plain ugly. It reaches up to more than P25,000+, which is pretty horrid for a person with a limited budget such as myself. ~_~”

Anyway, I guess this pretty much means I’m going to have to stick my N95 for a while. Hmm… maybe I should try a Nokia 5800…?

To read more Nokia or other cellphone reviews, you can read them from GSM Arena site here.
